Bagpipe Healthcare

A Bagpipe Health Check combines the essentials with a full inspection to ensure every part of the instrument is sound, WoodCare to protect and condition the wood, MetalCare to clean and preserve the fittings.

Together, these steps keep your pipes stable, well-maintained, and performing reliably, giving you confidence that the instrument is in strong, healthy working order.

Bagpipe Health Check

A thorough check to spot any cracks, wear, or other damage, making sure every part of the instrument is in good shape. This helps keep everything safe, reliable, and working the way it should, giving you confidence that your pipes are ready for steady, trouble-free playing.

WoodCare

This involves applying a light coat of bore oil to keep the wood conditioned, preventing it from drying out and reducing the risk of cracks. Regular oiling supports steady airflow, protects the instrument through seasonal changes, and helps maintain reliable performance and tone.

MetalCare

This includes carefully polishing the silver and other metal fittings to remove tarnish, restore their shine, and protect them from further dulling. Regular polishing keeps the instrument looking sharp, preserves the metal's integrity, and maintains the traditional presentation expected of well-kept pipes.

Bagpipe Service

Bagpipe servicing focuses on the practical setup work that keeps your instrument performing at its best.

Services like HempFit, BagFit, Cords&CoverFit, MoistureSystemFit, and the ProPlay Setup ensure your bag is secure, your covers and cords are correctly positioned, your moisture system works efficiently, and your reeds are balanced for a clean, steady tone. Together, these services create a more comfortable, reliable, and responsive instrument for everyday playing and performance.

HempFit

HempFit focuses on renewing and refining the hemp joints throughout your pipes to ensure a secure, airtight fit. We strip away old, worn hemp and replace it with a fresh, precisely applied wrap that gives each joint the right balance of smooth movement and reliable sealing. This improves stability, prevents unwanted leaks, and keeps your pipes assembling cleanly and confidently every time you play.

MoistureSystemFit

This service covers fitting new bag covers and attaching fresh drone cords, ensuring everything sits properly, looks tidy, and stays secure during play. It helps keep the instrument comfortable to handle, visually sharp, and ready for dependable use on both practice days and performance days.

BagFit

This service covers fitting and tying in new pipe bags (whether synthetic or traditional skin) and ensuring a proper, secure installation. Once fitted, the bag undergoes a full airtightness test to confirm optimal seal and performance, supporting stable pressure and long-term reliability.

Cords&CoverFit

This service covers installing any moisture control system, ensuring it’s set up securely and working as it should. Proper installation helps manage moisture levels inside the pipes, protects the reeds, and supports steadier, more reliable playing over time.

ProPlay Setup

ProPlay Setup focuses on your whole instrument so it can lock in cleanly and work together the way it should. We balance strength, stability, and blend to make sure each reed speaks easily and settles into a steady tone. The result is a smoother playing experience, easier tuning, and a cleaner, more consistent sound, giving you that confident, professional feel every time you strike in.

What to Expect From Us

When you leave your pipes with us, we aim to make the entire process transparent, straightforward, and dependable. We’ll confirm any parts you’d like replaced, keep your instrument safe and securely stored while the work is carried out, and let you know as soon as everything is ready for collection. If we discover anything that needs extra attention, we’ll always reach out before moving ahead. We ask that instruments be collected promptly, as those left unclaimed for an extended period may be subject to our unclaimed instrument policy.

Our goal is to handle your pipes with care, respect, and complete transparency from start to finish.

Replacement Parts

Before we start your service, we’ll check in with you about any parts you’d like replaced, such as reeds, pipe bags, or cases. Any parts you choose will be added to your final total.

If we find that additional parts or extra work are required during the service, we’ll always contact you first for approval before moving forward. If you decide not to proceed with the extra work, or choose to stop the service altogether, you’ll still be responsible for the cost of any parts already fitted and any labour already completed.

Instrument Protection

From the moment your pipes arrive, they’re logged in and placed in a secure, locked storage area dedicated to instrument protection. This ensures your pipes remain safe, dry, and untouched except by the technician carrying out the work. We handle every set with the same level of care and respect we’d expect for our own instruments.

When it’s time to collect your pipes, please bring a valid form of photo ID so we can confirm ownership before releasing them. This added step helps maintain a clear chain of custody and ensures your instrument is returned to the right person, in the same secure manner it was received.

Unclaimed Instruments

Unclaimed Instruments Policy
If an instrument remains uncollected and unpaid 90 days after the service has been completed, we reserve the right to sell the instrument to recover the outstanding balance. Before any such action is taken, we will make multiple reasonable attempts to contact you using the details provided at the time of booking.

It remains the customer’s responsibility to collect their instrument and settle any outstanding charges within the stated timeframe. Instruments left beyond 90 days may also incur storage fees. By booking a service, you acknowledge and accept this policy as part of our standard terms and conditions.
